Livestock monitoring and farm records
A project delivered with a cattle monitoring manufacturer, covering environmental alerts, feeding support and records.

Monitoring and farm records needed improvement
Our team delivered this livestock project in partnership with a cattle tail-sensor manufacturer. It addressed reliance on manual environmental checks, late disease detection, feed management and inconsistent farm records.
What the project included
Environmental monitoring connected IoT sensors for temperature, humidity and ammonia readings, with alerts for unusual conditions. Health-related monitoring analysed animal behaviour and health indicators to highlight changes for attention.
Feeding assistance supported adjustments to feed composition and quantities based on growth stage and nutritional needs. Record management organised farm logs, medication records and production data into reports.
Environmental sensors, animal monitoring and management records supported different tasks. Farm staff needed to check conditions after an alert and record the action taken.
Measured results from this project
- The early disease detection rate improved by 60%.
- Feed waste fell by 25%.
Planning a deployment for another farm
J2K scopes livestock monitoring solutions around the herd and the farm’s daily work. We coordinate equipment configuration, deployment and system-connection requirements with the technology manufacturer.
The initial discussion covers herd type, herd size, monitoring priorities and site connectivity. A pilot also needs arrangements for installation and maintenance, alert recipients, animal checks and follow-up records. Farm staff arrange veterinary assessment for health concerns.
A pilot can begin with part of the herd and record data availability, alert delivery and how staff respond. The farm can then use those operating records to decide the scope of a wider deployment.
